After October 2025, Microsoft 365 subscriptions associated with a Microsoft account, or work or school account will no longer be able to use legacy Outlook for Mac with their subscription. This transition marks a significant step towards a more robust, feature-rich, and secure email experience for all users.
The latest version of Outlook for Mac has been part of the Microsoft 365 suite for the past four years. Switch to Outlook for Mac
Legacy Outlook for Mac uses Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online to deliver your email. The EWS service will be retired on October 1, 2026. To avoid disruption to your email delivery and to help keep your data secure, we strongly recommend you switch from legacy Outlook for Mac to Outlook for Mac which uses modern technology designed for better performance, security, and reliability.

Open Outlook for Mac, and select the toggle to turn off the Legacy Outlook switch.
Note: If your version of Outlook doesn't include a toggle, you may need to download the newer version from within the app at Help > Check for Updates, or from the Apple App Store.
Get support with Outlook for Mac
How you get support with Outlook for Mac depends on if you're using Outlook with a Microsoft account, or with a work or school account through your organization.

If you're using a Microsoft account, to get support within the app, go to Help > Contact Support.

If you're using a work or school, contact your organization's help desk who can initiate a support ticket with Premier Support on your behalf.
Most users can also report problems from within the app. Select Help > Feedback > Report a Problem. To suggest a feature, select Help > Feedback > Suggest a Feature.

Support timeline for legacy Outlook for Mac
Continued support for Legacy Outlook for Mac depends on if you're using the app with a Microsoft 365 subscription, or you're using a one-time purchase (non-subscription) version of the app with a personal Microsoft account or a volume license.
Depending on your version we'll continue to provide access to Legacy Outlook for Mac until the end of its supported lifecycle. Once support ends, Legacy Outlook for Mac will no longer receive the latest updates or non-critical security features.
