OneDrive makes it easy to find the right photo quickly with automatic or manually added tags. You can simply type a tag in the search box and OneDrive will return all the photos with the tag you selected.

Automatically created tags

OneDrive automatically creates tags using artificial intelligence (AI), and without any human interactions. Rest assured that there are many security measures in place to keep your photos private and secured.

See the sections below if you need to remove a tag, add a tag, or turn off auto-tagging if you prefer not to use it.

Remove a tag

Sometimes OneDrive AI tags a photo incorrectly, but you can remove the tag and let us know so we can improve the experience.

  1. Select a photo that was tagged incorrectly, then select Edit tags on the top menu.

  2. On the Edit tags pane that opens, select X next to a tag to remove it.

Add a new tag

  2. On the Edit tags pane that opens, type a new tag, like Hiking, Art, Food, etc.

When searching for specific photos, just type the tag in the search bar to see all the photos associated with that tag.

Turn off auto-tagging

  1. Go to OneDrive SettingsOptions > Tagging.

  2. Turn off auto-tagging using the toggle on the page.
