In Microsoft Teams (free), you can choose to hide, mute, or mark your chats as unread.

Hide a chat to remove it from your Recent chat list. If someone messages you in that chat, it will no longer be hidden. Mute a chat to stop receiving notifications for the chat. You can still view a muted chat in your Recent chat list.

Hide or mute a chat  

  1. In the Chat tab, tap and hold on your chat.

  2. Tap Mute chat  Teams Mute icon or Hide chat  Teams Hide icon. If it is a one-on-one chat, you can also Block your contact.

Unhide a chat

  1. Search for the chat name.

  2. Add new messages or content to the chat. The chat will then appear in your Chat tab.
     

Mark chat as unread

In the Chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Mark as unread.
 

Pin a chat

In the Chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Pin chat.
 

View one-to-one chat details

  1. In the Chat tab, select a one-to-one chat.

  2. Tap on your contact’s name at the top.

  3. From the chat details window, you can:

  • Tap your contact's name to view their profile picture, start a video or audio call, or Block your contact.

  • Teams mute chat icon Switch Mute chat on or off.

  • Teams find button Find a specific message in the chat.

  • Themes allows you to change the color of your messages in the chat.

  • More options button Select More, where you can:

    • Teams pin chat icon Pin the chat.

    • Teams add member to chat Create a group chat.

    • Teams new people button View profile.

    • Teams block contact Block contact.

  • Find more options under Do more together.
