What are the phone requirements to receive SMS text messages on Teams with Link to Windows?

Currently, only Android devices are supported for SMS messages in Microsoft Teams (free) with Link to Windows.

How do I link my phone to Teams? 

You can find the prompt to link your Android phone in Microsoft Teams (free). To learn more, see Link your Android to Microsoft Teams (free).

If you don’t see a prompt to link your phone in Microsoft Teams (free), you might need to update Teams.  In Teams, select Settings and more > Settings   About Teams , then look under Version to see if you have the latest version or need to Update now.

Why isn't my phone linking to Teams?

If you are having issues linking your phone, try the following:

  • Check if your Microsoft Account is linked—You'll need to check the Link to Windows app on your phone to see if your Microsoft Account (MSA) is under the linked accounts option. First, scan the QR code again with your phone. Then continue with the linking process until you reach the finish screen where you'll see Manage linked accounts. Check the account listed and make sure it's correct. If you don't see your account or see an incorrect account, delete it, and then try to pair your phone again from the Chat window.

  • Check for a Teams update—In Teams, select Settings and more > Settings   About Teams , then look under Version to see if you have the latest version or need to Update now.

  • Close and restart Teams—Close and restart Teams, then try to pair your phone again from Chat window.

Why can't I see my group messages, rich content messages (RCS), and media content?

Can I unlink my phone from Teams after pairing it?

Yes, you can unlink your Android from Teams at any time. See Unlink your Android from Teams.
