Support for the 32-bit edition of Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows Arm-based devices is ending. New feature updates stopped in October 2025 and security updates will end in December 2026.
If you have the 32-bit edition of Microsoft 365 Apps on a Windows Arm-based device, you must upgrade to the 64-bit edition for continuing new features and security updates.
Note: The 64-bit edition of Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows Arm-based PCs requires Windows 11.
Check whether your Windows device has ARM-based processor
To check if your Windows device is running on an ARM processor, go to Start then type Settings, and then click System > About. In the Device specifications section, check whether the System type entry includes the words “ARM-based processor”.
Check whether the 32-bit edition of Microsoft 365 Apps is installed
- Open any Office application, such as Word or Excel, and select Account.
Note: If you don't see Account or you already have a file or document open, choose File from the menu, and then select either Account or Help from the list on the left. - For information about the bit-version, choose About Excel. A dialog box opens, showing the full version number and bit version: 32-bit or 64-bit.
If you see 64-bit, then no further action is required.
Upgrade to the 64-bit edition of Microsoft 365 Apps
If your Windows 11 PC has an ARM-based processor and the 32-bit edition of Microsoft 365 Apps is installed, then follow these instructions to upgrade to the 64-bit edition.
Make sure to save your documents and close the apps before proceeding.
The Microsoft 365 Apps installer will automatically detect and migrate 32-bit Microsoft 365 Apps products to the 64-bit edition.
