Manage call settings in Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile

The call settings for Teams Phone Mobile are mostly identical to the Teams app on any mobile device, but there are a few unique features to be aware of. To learn more see Getting started with Teams Phone Mobile.

Incoming call dialer selection

You can choose whether incoming calls ring your SIM-enabled phone’s default app or the Teams app. If your IT admin allows users to change this setting, follow these steps:

  1. Tap your profile picture.

  2. Tap Settings > Calling, under the Microsoft tab.

  3. Select Incoming call settings and choose either Cellular phone or Teams app.

Call forwarding

You can set up your calls to be forwarded to other members of your team. For instructions on how to do this, see Call forwarding, call groups, and simultaneous ring in Microsoft Teams. However, please note that these settings are only available in the Teams app itself and not through your smartphone’s settings.

Hide caller ID

You can prevent your phone number from showing up on caller ID. Instead of your name or number, outbound calls will show as “Anonymous” for others.

  1. Tap your profile picture.

  2. Tap Settings > Calling, under the Microsoft tab.

  3. Turn on Hide your phone number when dialing people who are outside Microsoft Teams.

Call transfer

Though the names are very similar, this feature is distinct from uplifting calls from your phone’s built-in calling app to Teams and joining them on other devices. Call transfer transfers one-on-one calls to anyone else in your organization or to an external number through Teams. To learn how to do this, see Transfer a call in Microsoft Teams.

Note: If you are calling through your phone’s default calling app, you must first uplift the call to the Teams app before you can transfer it to another person. Learn how at Getting started with Teams Phone Mobile.
