Microsoft is expanding the availability of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote for iOS and Android to Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 F1, Microsoft 365 E1 subscribers. Once available, all Microsoft 365 subscribers can install full versions of the mobile apps on up to 5 devices, and create, edit and share documents on the go.

What has been announced today with regards to Office Mobile Apps? What does this mean?
We are extending the rights to Office Mobile apps for iOS and Android to the Microsoft 365 E1, F1 and Business Essential licenses. If your organization or school is using any of those licenses, now users can install any of the Office mobile apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote) from the app store on their mobile device and sign in to access their content, whether it is files saved to their own OneDrive or shared with them.
The Office Mobile Apps are available in the app store today and I have installed them. How is this different?
The Office mobile apps are in both the iOS and Android App Stores but currently even if users with E1, F1, and Business Essentials install them and sign in, they can only use the apps to view content, not edit it. With this change all of these licenses will also be able to edit their content in the Office mobile apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel OneNote, and Outlook)
I am an existing customer with E1, F1 or BE? When will I get the fully functional Mobile Apps?
Outlook for iOS and Android is already available to all customers with the ability to edit. We are working to provide all customers, with the E1, F1 and BE licenses, full rights to edit their content in the Word, PowerPoint and Excel mobile applications in the next few months.
I have an iPad Pro? When I install the apps, they are read only – why?
For devices with screen sizes over 10.9”, users need to have the Microsoft 365 licenses with desktop apps for PC/Mac to be able to edit. That means only users with Microsoft 365 E3, E5, ProPlus, Business and Business Premium licenses will be able to use the mobile apps to edit on devices with screen sizes over 10.9”.
I have a Windows phone. Do I get the Mobile Apps too?
Yes. The Office mobile apps for Windows mobile will also be available with Microsoft 365 E1, Microsoft 365 F1 or Microsoft 365 Business Basic.
