Note: This topic describes features in the New Yammer. For information on using this feature in Classic Yammer, see Classic Yammer: Share conversations and files in Yammer.
Sometimes the Yammer community you first post a message to isn’t the right one or the only one. Any user can move or share a conversation, poll, or praise to a different community in order to make sure the right people see it.

FAQ
For moving conversations
Q: Who can move a conversation?
A: Any user with access to a conversation can move it.
Q: Who can see the conversation after it's moved?
A: All conversation participants before the move and all users with access to the new community can see the conversation after it's moved.
Q: Are files in the conversation moved to the new community?
A: No, files remain in the original community, but links to the files still appear in the conversation in the new community.
Q: After a conversation has been moved to another community, who can access files attached to it?
A: Everyone has access to files in conversations that are moved between public communities. If a conversation was moved from a private community, only members of the community that the conversation was originally posted to will have access to its files. If the conversation is moved back, anyone currently participating in the conversation (regardless of community membership) and all the original private community's members will have access.
Q: Will the post I move remain in the old community?
A: No, the post is only in the community it's moved to. It's not copied into both communities.
Q: Can you move a conversation to more than one community at a time?
A: No, you can only move from one community to another community.
Q: Can you move a conversation again after it's been moved?
A: Yes, conversations can be moved multiple times.
Q: What if I make a mistake and send it to the wrong community?
A: You can move it again to a different community.
Q: Which conversations can be moved?
A: All conversations in public and private communities can be moved.

Q: Can you move announcements?
A: No.
For sharing conversations
Q: Who can I share a conversation or file with?
A: You can share a conversation with anyone in your Yammer network.
Q: Can I share a conversation with someone in an external network?
A: No. You can't share a conversation outside the network in which the conversation is located.
Q: Can I share a private message with another private message or community feed?
A: No. You can't share a private message. However, you can add more network members to your private message.
Q: How many times can I share a conversation?
A: There's no limit to the number of times that you can share a message.
Q: When I share, am I sharing a message, the whole conversation, or both?
A: When you share a conversation with a community, the specific message that you share will appear in the other community's feed, together with a link back to the original conversation. Although members of the community with which you're sharing will see the only specific message that you select to share, a link back to the conversation will accompany the message.
Q: Will replies to shares occur in the original conversation?
A: No. A share in many ways functions like a forwarded email message in the way that it creates its own, new version of the message. When you share a conversation, the message that you share becomes a conversation starter in the community with which you're sharing. The only connection to the original message will be a link back to the original message.
Q: What happens when I share a message from a private community with a public community?
A: Messages from private communities can be shared, but only members of the private community can view the full conversation. Nonmembers see only the specific message that's shared.
Q: Can I share a conversation externally?
A: You can't share a message or conversation with anyone outside your organization.
Q: What is View Shares?
A: View Shares shows you a list of all the locations to which a message is shared. This is indicated by an icon next to the message.
Q: In View Shares, can I see the names of private communities to which I don't belong if a message is shared with the communities?
A: No. You can see only the names of the communities to which you belong or that are public and are listed under shared conversations.
Q: How can I share a conversation with someone who isn't located on Yammer?
A: To share a conversation with someone who isn't located on Yammer, share the conversation through private message, and then type his or her email address. He or she will receive a Yammer invite email message that states that you shared a message with them.
Note: You can enter the email addresses only of people who use an official organization domain.
