Send documents and files to OneNote for Windows 10

Send to OneNote lets you capture information from any app and send it to a page in OneNote for Windows 10. Once the information is in OneNote, you can access it from any device, even if you're offline.

Sending any type of file to OneNote is as easy as if you were sending it to an actual printer:

  • Documents

  • Spreadsheets

  • Emails

  • Drawings

  • Diagrams

  • Web pages

You can download and install the optional Send to OneNote app from the Microsoft Store.

After installing the Send to OneNote app, do the following:

  1. Open the document or file that you want to send to OneNote (for example, Microsoft Word for document files, or a browser for web pages).

  2. Select the Print option in the application.

  3. From the list of printers, choose Send to OneNote.

  4. Choose Print, and OneNote will open behind your application.

  5. In the window that appears, select where you want to send the file.

The content is added as an image on a new OneNote page.

Next steps:

Now that you have your content in OneNote, use the drawing tools to highlight important information, or add notes to your image.

If you want to format or edit the text in the content you’ve sent to OneNote, right-click the image of the printout, choose Picture > Copy Text, and then paste it below the image or in any other note or page.
