Summarize ideas in Whiteboard with Copilot for Microsoft 365

Cameron is a sales manager at a healthcare supply manufacturer. He just left an executive meeting with upper management about changes to all salespersons’ commission. He has a whiteboard filled with many sticky notes about the current and proposed commission structure for his sales team. His next step is to communicate the main points and benefits of the change to his team in an email, but he needs a well-written summary to share.

To save time, Cameron decides to use the Summarize feature in Copilot in Whiteboard. He completes the following steps:

  1. Select the Copilot button next to the Whiteboard toolbar.

  2. In the Copilot menu, select Summarize.

    1. Copilot creates a Loop component with a bullet point summary.

  3. Select Keep it to place the Loop component on the whiteboard.

  4. Make edits to the summary, if needed.

  5. Select Copy to copy the Loop component and paste it in an email.

Cameron just saved an hour of work by using Copilot in Whiteboard. The summary automatically includes a link to the whiteboard so collaborators can see the details and ask questions. Thanks to the Copilot Summarize feature, Cameron can share the summary with HR to ensure the right message is being communicated, receive feedback, and make edits, all within a single space.

When Cameron shares the summary with his team, they understand the main reasons and benefits of the change. They also access the whiteboard and explore the data more deeply. Several team members reply to Cameron’s email with their appreciation for clearly communicating the new commission structure.
