Switch to Office Home and Business 2024

Step 2:

The Your Microsoft 365 subscription has expired dialog opens on the app

Select the No, thanks button, and close this dialog.

Step 3:

Select Account menu in the left side of the app window

Check the status of the Product Information.

The string, Your subscription has expired is displayed, and the pink shading indicates that the Microsoft 365 apps are deactivated. (In other words, all functions of the apps are locked except file viewing and printing.)

Next, select Home menu in the left side of the app window and then Blank Document icon in Home screen to open a blank document window.

Step 4:

The notification bar in yellow appears in the window to recommend claiming the Office Home and Business 2024 free for you.

Select the Claim button in it

Step 5:

The Claim button redirects to the product page of Office Home and Business 2024 in Microsoft Store web site, and please sign in the page with your Microsoft account that has the expired 3-month trial subscription.

If the price is changed to "Free (including tax)" in this page, your Microsoft account has been granted the eligibility to get the Office Home and Business 2024 for free.

Select the Get button under the price

Step 6:

The Cart page opens with the offer added

Check the price is set with "¥0"

Select the Proceed to order button

Step 7:

The Proceed to order page opens

Select the Determine your order, if the price, quantity and product name are correct

Step 8:

The Thank you for your order page opens

The your order is completed.

The Product key and the Use it now button are shown.

As this point, you cannot still activate the client apps with the Office Home and Business 2024 license yet. You need to redeem this product key with your account and link the Office Home and Business 2024 license to your account. Selecting the Use it now button will start the redemption process.

Select the Use it now button

Step 9:

The Use it now button redirects to Office setup page (This page is automatically signed in with your Microsoft account.)

Select the Get started button

Step 10:

The Use the product key page opens

The product key displayed in Step 8 is automatically entered like the image on the right

Select the Redeem button if the product name is correct.

Step 11:

The Redemption of the key is completed and then the landing page opens like the image on the right.

Next, please go to the Microsoft dashboard to check the license linked to your Microsoft account 

Step 12:

Go to Subscription page in Microsoft dashboard

Please scroll down to the bottom of the page and confirm the Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024 is listed under the "Products you've purchased".

With this, your Microsoft account now has a license for 'Office Home and Business 2024'.

Also, under the Canceled Subscriptions, an expired 'Microsoft 365 Personal' is added due to end of the 3-month trial, therefore you can confirm that your available license is 'Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024' only.

Step 13:

Return to the client app opened in Step 4 and restart it

Step 14:

The You can use Office dialog opens on it

The string, "Your account has Office Home and Business 2024." and your Microsoft account name are displayed in the dialog since the client apps remain signed in with your Microsoft account.

Select the Get started button

Step 15:

The Accept the License agreement dialog opens

Your Microsoft account has activated the client apps with the Office Home and Business 2024 license.

Select the Accept button to accept the software license agreement of Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024.

Step 16:

Select the Account menu in the left pane once again

Look at the area under the Product information. You can check that the client apps are licensed by "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024".
