Confirm the 3-month trial subscription is expired
Step 1:
Start a preinstalled Microsoft 365 app from Start menu (Word, Excel or PowerPoint)
Step 2:
Go to File tab > Account menu
Look at the status under "Product Information"
This area is masked in red. It means that the client apps are unlicensed, and all features are also locked except for file viewing and printing function.
Step 3:
The notification bar in yellow appears in the window to recommend to claim the Office Home & Business 2024 free for you.
Select the Claim button in it
Note: If you can never see the notification bar in the window, please make sure the email from Microsoft informing you that your 3-month trial subscription was expired. As that email also contains the link as same link embedded in the Claim button, you can go to the product page of Office Home & Business 2024 from the link in the email as well.
Order the Office Home & Business 2024 for free
Step 4:
The Claim button redirects to the product page of Office Home & Business 2024 in Microsoft Store web site.
You can see the price of this offer is "Free" in it.
Select the Get button
Caution: If the price for this offer does not appear as 'Free' in this page, please select the account icon at the top right of the page and check the Microsoft account shown in it. If a different account is displayed, please sign in again with your own account.
Step 5:
The Cart page opens with the offer added
Check the price is set with "¥0"
Select the Proceed to order button
Step 6:
The Proceed to order page opens
Select the Determine your order, if the price, quantity and product name are correct
Step 7:
The Thank you for your order page opens
The your order is completed
The Product key and the Use it now button are shown.
Select the Use it now button to redeem the key with your Microsoft account
Redeem the product key with your Microsoft account
Step 8:
It redirects to Office setup page (It is already signed in with your Microsoft account.)
Select the Start button
Step 9:
The Use the product key page opens with the product key already entered as the image on the right
Select the Use button if the product name is correct.
Step 10:
The Redemption is completed and the landing page opens in the browser
Please go to the Microsoft dashboard to check the offer linked to your Microsoft account
Step 11:
Go to Subscription page in Microsoft dashboard
Scroll to the bottom of the page and check the Office Home & Business 2024 is listed under the "Products you've purchased".
With this, your Microsoft account now own the license for 'Office Home & Business'.
Activate the Office apps with your Microsoft account again
Step 12:
Return to the client app opened in Step 1 and restart it
Step 13:
You see the You've got Office dialog opens on it, and you see the string, "Your account has Office Home and Business 2024." and your own Microsoft account name is displayed in it.
Select the Get started button
Step 14:
The Accept the License agreement dialog opens
Select Accept button to activate the client apps
Step 15:
Go to File > Account menu in the client apps
Look at the status under the Product information. You can check that the Microsoft 365 client apps are licensed by "Office Home & Business 2024".
Note: This Office Home and Business 2024 free offer delivered after the 3-month trial ends is identical with a standard product sold in Microsoft Store and retail stores. Therefore, please understand that the number of available devices and platforms of this differs from the 'Office Home and Business 2024' that comes with a standard Office Pre-installed PC devices.
