Most app updates happen automatically in Teams, but when an app update requires new permissions, you must manually accept the update. When you do, the update is applied everywhere you have the right to change things. That might include chats, channels, meetings, or other places.

To update an app manually:

  1. Select Apps  Add an app or tab button on the left side of Teams.

  2. Near the bottom left of your screen, you’ll see a small red bubble next to Manage your apps  Manage apps icon. This bubble shows the number of pending app updates. Select that bubble.

  3. On the Manage your apps  Manage apps icon page, apps that need updates are at the top. Select Update for each app you want to update.Update available

  4. Select Update now to accept the permissions and update the app.

Update apps in a group chat

  1. Select Chat in Teams.

  2. Select a group chat.

  3. Select Open agents and bots  Apps icon Teams > Manage apps  Manage apps icon.

  4. Select Update for the app that you want to update. 

  5. Select Update now to agree to the new permissions and update the app.

Update apps in a team

  1. Select Teams  Teams button in Teams.

  2. Select Open agents and bots  Apps icon Teams​​​​​​​ > Manage apps  Manage apps icon.

  3. Select Update for the app that you want to update. 

  4. Select Update now to agree to the new permissions and update the app.

From a personal app

  1. Select an app on the left side of Teams.

  2. If the personal app needs new permissions, you'll see a banner with an Update button.Update from a personal app.

  3. Select Update.

  4. Select Update now to agree to the new permissions and update the app.
