Why did I stop receiving GroupMe notifications?

If you're not receiving your GroupMe notifications, there are a few places to check your settings.

Notification settings for all chats:

  1. In GroupMe select your profile picture, select Contacts  Contacts button in GroupMe​​​​​​​ .

  2. Tap Settings  Settings button in GroupMe.

  3. In the Notifications section:

    • Tap Group Message Sound, then ensure the Show notifications slider is set to on.

    • Tap Direct Message Sound, then ensure the Show notifications slider is set to on.

  4. Under Notifications, verify that Turn off all notifications is not enabled. If your notifications are muted, tap Turn off all notifications and select Re-enable notifications to turn notifications back on.

  5. Choose your additional notification preferences from the options.

Notification settings in a specific group chat:

  1. Go to the group chat you want to check.

  2. Tap the More options  More options button  menu from the top of the chat.

  3. Verify that Mute is turned Off. If notifications are muted, then you will not receive any alerts for this chat until you tap Unmute.

Mobile device settings:

  1. Go to your phone's settings, then go to your list of applications.

  2. Select GroupMe from your list of applications.

  3. Tap Notifications or App notifications and set your notification preferences from the options.

Note: Your device notification settings are always primary. If you have notifications turned off on a device, you won't receive notifications, regardless of your settings on any other device.
