Tips: While signing in, select Yes at the "Stay signed in?" prompt if you want to go straight to your mailbox next time (not recommended for shared computers). Alternatively, check the "Don't show this again" box and select No to be prompted for your password each time.. If you can't sign in, or have forgotten your username or password, use our sign-in troubleshooter.

Important: You don't need to remove old security information unless there is an account security risk (e.g. someone else has access to your old mailbox).

2. Verify your identity. For your protection, Microsoft must verify your identity before you can proceed with resetting your password. Choose how you want to receive a verification code.

Tip: If you believe someone has acquired your payment info, contact your bank or your payment provider to prevent more charges. Tell them your credit card has been stolen or compromised - If you only dispute the charges, there's nothing to prevent the fraudulent charges from happening again.

Warning When removing an email alias that’s connected to a Microsoft domain (such as @Outlook.com, @Live.com, or @Hotmail.com), that email is completely deleted from our systems and can’t be used to send or receive emails. It won’t be available for use again as an alias on another account. Microsoft doesn’t recycle email addresses, so it can’t be reclaimed at a future time.

Email addresses and phone numbers associated with your Microsoft account are called aliases and they use the same contacts, online storage, subscriptions, and account settings.

Uninstall from the Start menu. Select Start > All apps and search for the app in the list shown.

Change your password with your email provider. See the following sections for instructions on changing your email account password for several major email providers.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system.; Select your Xbox profile (or select Choose a profile and sign in to your account).; Select My profile > Customize profile, and then select your current gamertag.; Under Choose your new gamertag, enter the gamertag that you want in the available text box, and then select Check availability.
