Ready to install? Before you begin, make sure your PC or Mac meets the system requirements. If you already redeemed a product key, you're simply reinstalling the apps, or you know you have an assigned license through work or school, you can skip ahead and go to the section sign in to download and install Microsoft 365 or Office.

You can use installation media (a USB flash drive or DVD) to install a new copy of Windows, perform a clean installation, or reinstall Windows. To create installation media, go to the software download website, where you'll find step-by-step instructions.

Windows 10. To find downloads on your PC: Select File Explorer from the taskbar, or press the Windows logo key + E. Under Quick access, select Downloads. Note: If necessary, go to the View tab, select Navigation pane, and ensure that Navigation pane is checked. You can also find your Downloads folder under This PC.

Windows 11 Windows 10. Windows 11 automatically downloads and installs updates to make sure your device is secure and up to date. This means you receive the latest fixes and security updates, helping your device run efficiently and stay protected. To check for updates manually, select Start > Settings > Windows Update . Check for updates.

If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files. Though the steps below might look complicated at first glance, just follow them in order, step-by-step, and we’ll try to get you back on track.

Go to Settings. Go to About. Locate the Version number. If your version number is 2311.1001.7.0 or newer (higher), then you are good to go. If your version number is older (lower) than that, then you will need to update your Xbox app for PC with these steps: Launch the Microsoft Store app. Click Library. Click Get Updates.
