Windows backup and sync settings sync the settings you choose across all your Windows devices that you've signed in to with your Microsoft account.

Symptoms. Consider the following scenario: You log on to a computer that is running Windows 8.1. Before the "Host Process for Setting Synchronization" (SettingSyncHost.exe) process closes its database, you generalize the system by running the following command:

Windows 11 Windows 10. Tips: Most apps have their own settings. In the app, select Settings to make app-specific changes.

Choose your sync settings in Microsoft Edge on your computer. In the top corner of the browser window, select Settings and more , or use the keyboard shortcut Alt+F, and select Settings . Under Profiles > Your profile, select the profile you’d like to change the settings for, and select Sync .

Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Startup. Open Startup settings. For any app in the list, select the toggle to set it to On. If you want to change the advanced settings for that app, select the arrow and make changes as desired.

Windows 10. Select the Start button and scroll to find the app you want to run at startup. Right-click the app, select More, and then select Open file location. This opens the location where the shortcut to the app is saved. If there isn't an option for Open file location, it means the app can't run at startup.

Select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions. Reinstall the device driver. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.

Windows 10. In the search box next to Start on the taskbar, type control panel. Select Control Panel from the list of results. Note: Many Control Panel features are simpler and faster in Settings . Open Settings. Open Control Panel in Windows.

Select Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features . Find the app you want to remove, select More > Uninstall. Note: Some apps can't be uninstalled from the Settings app right now. For help uninstalling these apps, follow the instructions to uninstall from Control Panel. Uninstall from Control Panel.
