Some extensions change browser settings like your default search engine, new tab page, and other types of site data. To prevent extensions from changing the preferences you set up when you installed Microsoft Edge , the browser automatically turns off extensions that might change your preferred settings.. You can change settings for your extensions at any time.

The exception to this is if you turn off the setting that disables all non-essential connected experiences. The service that roams your privacy settings across devices is also turned off by that switch, so when that setting is off your settings will not roam to, or from, that particular device.
