When you initially setup your Windows device, you might have opted to use a local account instead of a Microsoft account. Starting with Windows 11, version 22H2, the known Windows folders—Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, and Videos—are available by default as pinned folders in Quick access in both File Explorer Home and the left navigation pane.These default folders are no longer displayed under This PC to keep the view focused on your PC’s drives and network locations.

Note: If you are in tablet mode, desktop icons are not displayed.To see your desktop icons in tablet mode, go to Start > Settings > System > Tablet, then select Change additional tablet settings.Under When I'm using tablet mode, make sure that Hide app icons on the taskbar and Automatically hide the taskbar are both set to Off.
