Windows backup and sync settings sync the settings you choose across all your Windows devices that you've signed in to with your Microsoft account.

Symptoms. Consider the following scenario: You log on to a computer that is running Windows 8.1. Before the "Host Process for Setting Synchronization" (SettingSyncHost.exe) process closes its database, you generalize the system by running the following command:

Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Startup. Open Startup settings. For any app in the list, select the toggle to set it to On. If you want to change the advanced settings for that app, select the arrow and make changes as desired.

Windows 10. Select the Start button and scroll to find the app you want to run at startup. Right-click the app, select More, and then select Open file location. This opens the location where the shortcut to the app is saved. If there isn't an option for Open file location, it means the app can't run at startup.

Manage your sync settings on your computer. You can review or manage the type of data that is synced across your devices by following these steps: In Microsoft Edge, select More options > Settings > Profiles > Sync. You'll see a list of the features and data types available for sync.

Choose your sync settings in Microsoft Edge on your computer. In the top corner of the browser window, select Settings and more , or use the keyboard shortcut Alt+F, and select Settings . Under Profiles > Your profile, select the profile you’d like to change the settings for, and select Sync .

Select Start > Settings > Privacy & security. Select an App permission (for example, Location) then choose which apps can access it. The Privacy page won't list apps with permission to use all system resources. You can't use the Privacy settings to control what capabilities these apps can use. Windows Desktop apps fall under this category.
