Learn how to download, install, and configure additional language packs for your version of Windows.

After you run the OOBE wizard, Lpksetup.exe automatically removes the unused language packs. When it removes language packs, Lpksetup.exe compares language names instead of language codes.

You can also use the lpksetup.exe /u language command to uninstall language packs. Note language is a placeholder for the code of the language pack that you want to uninstall. For example, assume that you want to uninstall the Japanese and the Spanish language packs.

To reduce disk space requirements in Windows 10 and improve installation time, language packs have been split into language components and Features on Demand v2 (Capabilities). Language components include the user interface text for that language and basic Cortana capabilities.

We recommend that you install language packs from the Control Panel. If the language pack is unavailable in the Control panel, you may find the download link on the Windows website that we mentioned in the "Download a language pack from Windows website" section.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.1 Language Pack contains localized resources for supported languages. It contains translated error messages and other UI text for languages other than English. If you do not install a language pack, the text is displayed in English. You can install multiple language packs on a computer, each for a different language.

When you install a language pack, you can change the interface language of Windows 7 to the language that you select. Language packs also let multiple users who share a computer select distinct display languages.

drive:\Lpksetup.exe where drive is the drive letter that contains the Multilingual User Interface Pack CD. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen to install the appropriate language.
