Rhs.exe is the Resource Hosting Subsystem process that starts or stops when a cluster resource is added or removed. This article explains the cause and resolution of a problem that occurs when Rhs.exe incorrectly overwrites heap memory with a system environment variable in the path of a resource DLL. The hotfix is available for download from Microsoft.

Symptoms. Assume that the Resource Hosting Subsystem (Rhs.exe) process crashes because of a specific cluster resource time-out error. In this situation, the cluster resources are not stopped. Therefore, the cluster resources are not initialized correctly by the newly started Rhs.exe process during the recovery process.

Right-click on Start > File Explorer. Select the disc drive where the game was installed to (typically the C: drive), then go to /XboxGames if you let games install to the default folder. Otherwise, the games are located in the custom folder location where you set your games to install.
