Learn how to create, rename, and extract zipped (compressed) files and folders in Windows. Zipped files take up less storage space and can be transferred more quickly than uncompressed files.

The Xbox Offline System Update (OSU) process allows you to update your console by downloading a file to a USB flash drive and then installing that file directly onto your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console.

To change how your items appear in File Explorer, select View on the ribbon and choose between showing icons, lists, details, and more. To reduce the space between files, select View > Compact view. To find relevant files from your PC and the cloud, search from File Explorer Home.

Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory on your CD or DVD, and then choose to write (burn) the files to the disc. Once you burn the files to disc, remove that disc from your computer and insert it into the disc drive on your Xbox 360 console.

If you select multiple files or folders and then select Download from Microsoft OneDrive, SharePoint in Microsoft 365, or from SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, your browser will start downloading a .zip file containing all the files and folders you selected.

Copy the $SystemUpdate file from the .zip file to your flash drive. The files should be copied to the root directory, and there shouldn't be any other files on the flash drive.

You can compress, or zip, the file in Windows, which shrinks the size of the file but retains the original quality of your presentation. You can also compress the media files within the presentation so they're a smaller file size and easier to send.

If you see error E106 when you try to turn on your Xbox console, this means there may have been a problem installing a system update. Find more solutions here.

When you compress, or zip, your file, it decreases its size, and it might decrease it enough to fit within the Outlook size limits for attachments. The following articles describe how to compress and extract files for different Windows operating systems.

Plug the USB flash drive with the Offline System Update files into a USB port on your Xbox console. When the flash drive is inserted, the Offline System Update option on the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter becomes active.
