Symptoms
You install and then enable the PowerPivot for Excel add-in on a computer that has the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack (SP) 1 or .NET Framework 2.0 SP 2 installed. When you try to start Microsoft Excel, the splash screen intermittently stays open longer than usual when the following content is displayed:
Note**<x>** represents the number that represents the order in which PowerPivot is displayed among the Excel add-ins. <y> represents the total number of add-ins in Excel.
Resolution
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

You must have the .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 or .NET Framework 2.0 SP 2 installed to apply this hotfix.
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix if affected files are not being used.
