This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics AX for the Poland (pl) region.
INTRODUCTION
This article describes that a country-specific update is available to enable to select an exchange rate to calculate the value-added tax (VAT) for the VAT statement in Poland in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2.
From January 1, 2013, companies can use exchange rates of European Central Bank to recalculate sales invoices in foreign currencies for VAT tax purposes. Sales invoices in euro (EUR) can be directly recalculated to Polish zloty (PLN). Invoices in other currencies should be recalculated to EUR first, and then be recalculated from EUR to PLN.
More Information
According to the new regulation, companies are free to select the exchange rate to calculate the VAT for the VAT statement. The exchange rate that is selected for the VAT calculation can differ from the exchange rate that is used for company accounting functions.
To comply with this change, the following changes are implemented after you apply this update:
For possibility to post transactions into customer or vendor balance, two new check boxes are added (for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1) for the Set up a ledger account for tax discrepancies functionality under the following location:
General ledger>Setup>Sales tax>Ledger posting groups- Post to customer balance or vendor balance for Sales tax receivable discrepancy offset
- Post to customer balance or vendor balance for Sales tax payable discrepancy offset
Accounts for Sales Tax Receivable discrepancy and Sales Tax Payable discrepancy (VAT exchange rate info area) needs to be equal to Sales Tax Receivable and Sales Tax Payable accounts (Posting area).
For Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1, exchange rates from European Central Bank must be recalculated and registered according to the national currency (PLN).
For Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, set up exchange rate calculation rules for sales tax under the following location:
GL/Setup/Currency/Currency exchange rate calculation rules for sales taxNeed to be registered information for Exchange Rate Type (one type or for all types) with connection to the company (for one company or all companies) and currency definition rules (from currency, to currency) with triangulation currency.For possibility to see more details (additional lines that contain discrepancy amounts) in the VAT register report, a new Show details check box is added under the following location:
General ledger> Reports>Periodic>VAT Register>Sales VAT RegisterFor prepayments that are posted through a general ledger journal that has a credit ledger account, the discrepancy is posted to the discrepancy account. If the discrepancy should be posted to the customer or vendor balance, the posting should be done as a separate operation.

Validation of the application hotfix installationTo validate the installation of the application hotfix, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the Application Object Tree (AOT). Then, verify that there is a method whose name includes the Knowledge Base (KB) article number of the installed hotfix. Additionally, you can cross-check the affected objects by comparing the KBXXXXXX.txt file against the objects in the AOT. By doing this, you can make sure that the objects are changed correctly in the SYP layer or in the GLP layer.
Note The XXXXXX placeholder represents the KB article number of the installed hotfix.
