Symptoms
After installing Windows updates released on October 13, 2020, Configuration Manager current branch, version 2002, is unable to download Office 365 updates. The specific Windows update article ID varies by build; for example, KB 4579311 is the article ID for Windows 10, version 2004, and Windows Server version 2004.
Errors resembling the following are recorded in the PatchDownloader.log on the computer downloading the content.

Important installation note
This hotfix prevents the Configuration Manager console from upgrading successfully after a version update, such as from version 2002 to 2006.
Note
Note that versions of Configuration Manager released after 2006 will not encounter this console upgrade issue and the steps below are not necessary.
If this hotfix (KB 4575783) is installed prior to updating to version 2006, the Configuration Manager console upgrade to the 2006 version will fail and display the following message onscreen.

To resolve this issue when updating from Configuration Manager current branch, version 2002 to version 2006, perform the following steps then restart the console upgrade process.

- 1. After updating to version 2006 run the following commands on the Configuration Manager Central Administration Site (CAS) and any Primary sites. These steps can be run manually from a command prompt or via script.

- Copy %SMSRoot%\CMUStaging\A200E842-5CB5-4BD3-AB77-2999B59721AE\SMSSETUP\BIN\I386\ConfigMgr.AC_Extension.amd64.cab %SMSRoot%\bin\i386 /y
- Copy %SMSRoot%\CMUStaging\A200E842-5CB5-4BD3-AB77-2999B59721AE\SMSSETUP\BIN\I386\ConfigMgr.AC_Extension.i386.cab %SMSRoot%\tools\ConsoleSetup /y
- Copy %SMSRoot%\CMUStaging\A200E842-5CB5-4BD3-AB77-2999B59721AE\SMSSETUP\BIN\I386\ConfigMgr.AC_Extension.amd64.cab %SMSRoot%\tools\ConsoleSetup /y
- 2. Download and install the 2006 update rollup from the Updates and Servicing node of the console.
KB 4578605 Update Rollup for Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager version 2006 - The Update Rollup for version 2006 contains the fix for the Office 365 download issue.
Hotfix availability
This update is available in the Updates and Servicing node of the Configuration Manager console for environments that are installed by using early update ring or globally available builds of version 2002, and have the following update rollup installed.
