This article describes an issue that occurs when you view the properties of the photos in Windows Explorer on a computer that is running Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows RT, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012. You can resolve this issue by using the update in this article. Before you install this update, check out the Prerequisites section.
Symptoms
The "Date taken" information is not displayed in Windows Explorer for the photos that are taken by certain Android devices and transferred to a Windows-based computer. Therefore, you cannot sort those photos by "Date taken".
How to obtain this update
Important Do not install a language pack after you install this update. If you do, the language-specific changes in the update will not be applied, and you will have to reinstall the update. For more information, see Add language packs to Windows.
