The "Bytes Transmitted/sec" counter in Performance Monitor remains at zero when a file is copied from a computer to another computer that supports SMBv2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Server Message Block version 2 (SMBv2) protocol on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You open Performance Monitor on the computer.
  • You click Add, double-click Redirector, and then add Bytes Transmitted/sec to the counter list.
  • You copy a file from this computer to another computer that supports SMBv2.

In this scenario, the Bytes Transmitted/sec counter in Performance Monitor remains at zero.

Resolution
