Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Reporting Services report that contains a tablix data region.
  • There are merged cells in the tablix data region.
  • You try to export the report in a PDF format.

In this scenario, the export fails, and you receive the following series of error messages:

Note

An error occurred during local report processing.

      

Note

An error occurred during rendering of the report.

      

Note

An error occurred during rendering of the report.

      

Note

Object reference not set to an instance an object.

      

Reporting Services log

Additionally, if you check the Reporting Services log file, you find the following errors:

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.

Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2014

Cumulative Update 7 for SQL Server 2012 SP1
