If you’re having trouble with the reset options in Windows, you’ll need to download these recovery files to get your Surface working again.
Note: If you're an IT admin, managing Surface for Business devices in your organization, see Recovery tool (Surface IT Toolkit) for another way to restore a supported Surface device to its factory state.
Before you startÂ
Your Surface has options in Windows that can help you reset the device. If available, use these options before downloading a recovery image.
To learn more, see Reset or recover your Surface.
Notes:Â For all other Surface devices:
-
For Surface Hub 2S and Surface Hub 3, see Reset & recovery for Surface Hub 2S & Surface Hub 3 for specifics on which recovery images are support for each device model. If you have a Surface Hub 3 or if you've upgraded your Surface Hub 2s device with a Hub 3 Pack, only the "Windows 11 IoT Enterprise with the Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows experience" download is supported. Using other recovery images may cause harm to your device and void your warranty.

For Surface Duo, see Reset Surface Duo to factory settings
