Symptoms

Assume that you have some slides in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 that you want to print to a large size (for example, poster size). However, when you send the slides to a plotter or a printer, you receive the following error message:

Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup. Try one or more of the following: *Check the printer by printing a test page from Windows *Make sure the printer is turned on and online *Reinstall the printer driver

Resolution

To resolve this issue, apply the following hotfix package:

Fix it for me

To enable the hotfix automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.For Windows 8

For Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2003

  • Install the hotfix that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2760388 before you run this Fix it solution.

  • This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.

  • If you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the Fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer that has the problem.

After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps to enable the hotfix:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0

  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.

  4. Type Gfx, and then press Enter.

  5. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Gfx

  6. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.

  7. Type FavorTiledPrinting, and then press Enter.

  8. In the Details pane, right-click FavorTiledPrinting, and then click Modify.

  9. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

  10. Exit Registry Editor.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
