Note:Â A license for Microsoft365 Copilot is required for this feature.
AI suggested feedback enhances educator productivity by streamlining the feedback process when grading student work, ultimately saving valuable time and allowing educators to focus more on student growth and improvement.Â
Similarly to how users can use Copilot in Microsoft Teams chat to adjust their messages, Copilot can be used to adjust educator feedback on student work. This content can be adjusted to both be age appropriate based on the student's grade, and to convey the right tone. Â
AI suggested feedback
1. When reviewing a student's assignment, you will find the option to Enhance feedback in the panel to the right (See Screenshot).Â
2. A minimum of 50 characters is required to enhance feedback using Copilot. You can include some points that you want to cover in the text box. Copilot will use that information to provide a better response that covers your desired points. Â
This enables teachers to include their version and train of thought as they review student work. Copilot becomes an assistant to make that feedback cohesive. Â
3. Choose the Keep it button to complete your feedback. Â
Keep it attaches feedback to the assignment and you can proceed to grading the student's work. Learn more about grading an assignment. Â

Language
In general, AI Suggested Feedback] supports the following languages output: EN-US.Â
For other locals in english are used as input, e.g EN-UK, or EN-AU, the system will output in EN-USÂ Â
The system hasn't been specifically evaluated for the wide variety of dialects and sociolects represented in English. Â
Generative AI models are trained using vast amounts of data, and that data is most often in English. This can sometimes result in better performance in English as compared to non-English languages. As with any deployment of generative AI models, we encourage users to be mindful of the limitations of these systems for their specific use case, and cultural and linguistic contexts.   Â
Microsoft is planning to add more supported languages and locals to AI Suggested Feedback. This article will be updated as additional languages are supported. Â
Grade Selection
Selecting the grade level provides Copilot with the appropriate context to tailor the language used in the feedback. It indicates what level the language should be written at, ensuring that feedback meant for an 8th grader is not delivered for an assignment produced by a 3rd grader.Â
Summarize rubric with feedback
Copilot can suggest a summary of rubric selections when using an assignment with a rubric. For summarized feedback, the educator first selects the rubric values that reflect the student's performance. Once generated, the educator can choose to have the feedback written in one of three tones: Basic, Instructional, or Coaching. This enables the educator to tailor the tone to the student's specific needs. If the educator also includes rubric feedback and summarized feedback, Copilot will incorporate this as input for the suggested summarized feedback. Â
In addition to the initial educator feedback and rubric selection, Copilot will also consider the Rubric, Grade, Language, and Feedback Tone when generating the suggested feedback. Â
1. Open the rubric by choosing the rubric attached to your assignment (see screenshot.)Â
2. Make a selection from your rubric. Add any feedback you wish to the rubric and choose the Done button located in the top right corner of the rubric panel. Your rubric selection is now saved. The point total will also update based on your rubric selection. Â
3. Navigate to the option to Summarize rubric as feedback. (See screenshot)Â
4. Choose the Keep it button to complete your feedback. Â
Keep it attaches feedback to the assignment and you can proceed to grading the student's work. Learn more about grading an assignment. Â
