INTRODUCTION
This article introduces the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack update for Windows 8 and for Windows RT. This update adds the ability to view device-specific RAW photos in the new Windows UI in Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Prerequisites
To apply this update, you must be running Windows 8 or Windows RT. Additionally, the Windows 8-based computer must meet the following hardware requirements:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 processor equivalent or better (1.6 gigahertz (GHz) or more with SSE 2 extensions or compatibility)

GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, critical issues. LDR service branches contain updates in addition to widely released fixes.

The MANIFEST files (.manifest) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows RT and Windows 8" section. MANIFEST files and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintain the state of the updated components. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
