Employees can join Engage events on web, mobile, or though the Microsoft teams app. Events in Engage can be hosted from communities or storylines.

Engage supports three event types in communities and storylines: Broadcasts, Meetings, and Async events. Broadcasts are the new and improved live events powered by Teams town hall. Meetings are exactly what they sound like: a Teams meeting that's connected to your community or storyline. And async events are text-based events with no live component.

Discover events you want to attend

For both communities and storylines, the Events tab shows a consolidated list of upcoming events as event cards. Events in the Past section contain easy access to the event recording and enable you to engage in conversation with presenters and other attendees.

In Engage or in Microsoft Teams, just open the community and select the Events tab. Each card gives you access to its event landing page.

Open the community and choose the Events tab to see past events and future ones.

Add events to your calendar

To add an event to your calendar, select the Add to calendar button on the event page.

Use the Add to calendar link to add an event to your schedule.

Note: The Add to calendar action adds a static .ics file to the attendee’s calendar. Future updates made to the event by the organizer (such as date/time/description) don't automatically update the attendees' invites.

Join a meeting or a broadcast

On the day of the event, when the event video meeting is live, select Join meeting or Join broadcast from the event landing page or from the event calendar invitation.

Select Join meeting or Join broadcast to join the event.

Users on any Engage or Microsoft Teams experience can view and participate in Engage events.

The organizing team can control how attendees can engage with the event before, during, and after an event. Events include the following engagement features:

  • Asking questions, posting discussions, and commenting on posts by others

  • Upvoting questions

  • Reacting to others posts and comments

  • Anonymous posts and replies: Once posted, these are not associated with the attendee and can't be tracked by the organization. Replies and reactions to anonymous posts aren't anonymous. Reactions to anonymous comments also aren’t anonymous.

  • Private replies for moderated posts: Private replies are visible only to organizers and to the attendee who made the post. Attendees can view their posts and respond to private replies in their My posts feed. Private replies will be deleted if the post is published.

  • If the organizer enables moderation, all questions and discussion submissions enter review. An organizer must publish the post before it appears in the event feed. Organizers can dismiss a post, so it isn't visible to other attendees.

These actions typically are available before, during, and after the event.
