Clipchamp is now a Microsoft company, which means, Clipchamp’s pricing plans have changed. Introducing Clipchamp's Essentials plan.

What does this mean for Clipchamp subscribers?

1. For existing Clipchamp subscribers using a non-Microsoft log in

All existing Clipchamp subscribers will be asked to link a Microsoft account before switching their existing subscription plans to the Essentials plan. When switching, users can immediately cancel their existing subscription and receive refunds as part of the process.

2. For existing Clipchamp subscribers using a Microsoft log in

All existing Clipchamp subscribers using a Microsoft account log in will be asked to switch subscription plans to the Essentials plan. Users can immediately cancel their existing subscription and receive refunds as part of the process.

3. For existing Clipchamp free users using a non-Microsoft log in

All free users require a Microsoft account to upgrade to the Essentials plan. This can be achieved by linking a Microsoft account to an existing Clipchamp account or logging in using a Microsoft account. Creating an account will be required if you don't have an existing personal Microsoft account.

How to connect a Microsoft account to an existing Clipchamp account?

For existing Clipchamp users using a non-Microsoft account login, connect your Microsoft account for access to payments. Existing Clipchamp users will only be able to upgrade to the Essentials plan after switching to a Microsoft account.

Step 1. On your Clipchamp homepage, click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select settings.

Step 2. View connected accounts and click on connect Microsoft account.

Log into your Microsoft account and follow the on-screen prompts.

Step 3. Sign in to your Microsoft account.

Using an email, phone, or Skype, sign in to your Microsoft account, or click on the sign-in options.

How to upgrade to the Essentials plan for free Clipchamp subscribers?

Step 1. In the Clipchamp editor, click on 'switch to a new plan'.

If you have used premium features, you will need to upgrade to export. If you do not wish to upgrade, export in 1080p video resolution with a watermark or remove premium content from your video. If your video consists of free assets only, you can export it in 1080p video resolution for free without upgrading.

Step 2. Plan options will appear on-screen.

Step 3. Connect your Microsoft account to upgrade your account.

Click on the purple Sign in with Microsoft button.

Sign in to your Microsoft account using an email, phone, or Skype, or select the sign-in options button.

Once you have logged in to your Microsoft account, a successful link notification will appear on-screen.

Step 4. Click on the Next button to add payment details.

You will be brought back to Clipchamp after logging in to your Microsoft account. Click on the Next button to add payment details.

Select a payment method. Either choose credit cardor debit card, or PayPal.

A) Credit card or debit card

Add your credit card or debit card details, then click Save.

B) PayPal

Click on Sign in to PayPal to log into your account.

Once you have added your account information, click on the Subscribe button.

Step 5. A success popup will appear.

Once you have successfully confirmed your account payment method, a welcome message will appear on-screen.

FAQs

I can't link my Microsoft account as I am part of a larger organization/education institution. What can I do to get the Essentials plan?

Unfortunately, the Essentials plan offer only applies to personal Microsoft accounts. You cannot purchase our commercial license if you are part of a business or education. We are working on a commercial app for you – no official date yet.

I don’t want to switch to the Essentials plan, can I still use my subscription?

We discontinued all legacy paid subscription plans - Creator, Business, Business Platinum - in November 2022. Essentials is currently the only standalone subscription option for Clipchamp that enables access to all premium features. In addition, if you're on an M365 personal or family plan, some (but not all) Clipchamp premium options are enabled for you.

I bought the Clipchamp Essentials plan through the Microsoft store, how do I use Clipchamp/my new entitlement?

If the user is a new user:

  1. Download Clipchamp through the Microsoft app store.

  2. Register with your personal Microsoft account that you used to purchase Clipchamp.

  3. You should be able to use all the features provided within Essentials now.

If the user is an existing user:

  1. Log in to Clipchamp using your account.

  2. If you did not log in using your Microsoft account, ensure you link your Microsoft account in your profile settings using the Connect your Microsoft account button.

  3. After you’ve linked your Microsoft account, you should get the new entitlements as part of the Essentials plan. (Refresh if you did not see it recognized).
