Warning: The retired, out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled through a Microsoft Edge update on certain versions of Windows 10 on February 14, 2023.

For more information, see aka.ms/iemodefaq.

We highly recommend setting up IE mode in Microsoft Edge and disabling IE11 prior to this date to ensure your organization doesn't experience business disruption.

Symptoms

When you use the window.location.href property to open a new webpage on a site that has Enterprise Mode enabled in Internet Explorer 11, the document.referrer element is not null as expected on the new webpage.

Note In Internet Explorer 8, document.referrer is null as expected in this scenario.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Microsoft Update. Additionally, see the technical information about the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.

Note This update was first included in the MS16-084: Security update for Internet Explorer: July 12, 2016.

Status
