Chat with Copilot and draft your page

  1. In the Message Copilot compose box, enter your prompt, then select the send button  Arrow icon to send message to Copilot Chat.

Tip: By explicitly asking Copilot to “Create a page...” or “Generate a page...”, it can automatically create a page when it detects you’re drafting something durable (e.g. a project brief) and keep refining it with you.

  2. Select the pencil button  Pencil icon representing Edit in Pages button in Microsoft 365 Copilot Pages below Copilot's response to create a page and open it side-by-side with Copilot Chat. Select the title directly on the page if you want to rename it.

Work side-by-side with Copilot Chat to refine your content in real time. Using your prompts, Copilot can update existing content or add new content to your page. You can also ask questions about the page, and Copilot will provide answers based on its current content. At any time, you can make direct edits to your page.

Note: If you ask Copilot Chat to update your page, some content from earlier conversations might be removed. Check your page after edits to avoid losing important details.

Tip: Recall a previous chat you'd like to add to your page? Select Chat in the left navigation pane to review a list of your chat history and select the one you want. At the bottom of that chat response, select the Pages icon, and then Add to recent page. Enter the title of your page in the search box or select it under Recent Pages.

  2. Select any of the following:

  • Adjust content - Ask Copilot to add details, make it shorter, or turn your content into an email or blog post.

  • Change tone - Ask Copilot to change the tone of your content to be more professional, friendly, sincere, or assertive based on your intended audience.

  • Style page - Ask Copilot to add emojis, sections headers, an introduction, or conclusion to your content. You can also structure your page by adding all of these styling changes at once.

If you haven’t yet shared your page, Copilot will apply your selected shortcuts automatically, keeping edits private. Changes made by Copilot are highlighted for easy review.

If you’ve shared your page, you can preview and edit revisions before they’re visible to others. This keeps you in control of what’s shown. To keep the new revision, select the check mark icon. To go back to the original, select the back arrow button.
