Symptoms

Assume that you have a Windows Server 2012 R2-based Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) node that contains more than 8 tiered volumes. When you try to use the Set-FileStorageTier cmdlet to pin files on the node, the operation fails. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
