Hide user messages in Engage
Use Hide a user’s messages to stop seeing posts and replies from a specific person in Viva Engage. Hiding is personal to you; it doesn’t remove content for anyone else, and it doesn’t notify the person you hide.Â
When to hide another user's messages
-
You want to see fewer posts from another user in your home feed, email digests, or community feeds.
-
You want to focus on specific communities or topics from a defined list of people.
Hiding a user complements the mute community in feeds feature, which removes all posts from a specific community from your Engage home feed and email digests.Â
Hide a user’s messages on a profile pageÂ
-
Find the profile page of the user you want to hide.
-
Select the More  menu on their profile.
-
Select Hide their messages, and then confirm.
On a messageÂ
-
Find the post or reply written by the person you want to hide.
-
Select the More  menu on the message.
-
Select Hide their messages and then confirm.
Unhide a user’s messagesÂ
Unhide someone at any time from their profile page, or from any of their messages using the More menu.Â
What changes after you hide someone?
You won’t see their new posts in your home feed or email digests. Comments from a hidden user are hidden in those places. This applies whether you hide them from a message or from their profile.
-
Community feeds, search results, and elsewhere hide posts and replies from the chosen person with an option to expose the content. Exposing message content doesn't remove the hidden status from the user.
-
Hiding doesn’t block the person, change your notifications, or affect who can send you a private message.
-
You can't follow a user if you hide them. If you unhide, you must follow them again.
-
Engage doesn't notify the person you hide. They can continue to post and reply normally.
Note:Â You can't hide designated leaders, network/verified/Engage admins, or corporate communicators.Â
Hiding takes effect immediately, and reflects across all Engage endpoints and integrations, such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Engage mobile apps.Â
FAQÂ
Why can’t I see the hide option on a message in Engage?Â
Your admin may disable this feature for all users in the network. Hide a user’s messages is default on for all networks.Â
Does hiding block the person from contacting me?Â
No. Hiding only changes what you see in Engage conversations and feeds. The hidden user can still at-mention you or reply to your conversations. Â
You have the option to expose content from hidden users without removing the status.Â
Can anyone see who I’ve hidden?Â
Engage admins may be able to see the list of users you’ve hidden in data exports or audit logs. Other end-users cannot see who you’ve hidden in Engage.Â
