Improvements

This cumulative security update contains improvements that are part of update KB5037778 (released May 14, 2024). This update also makes improvements for the following issues:

  • A memory leak might occur in the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) during a Local Security Authority remote procedure call (LSARPC).

  • The Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) might crash after the April 9, 2024 security update (KB5036969) is installed.

We are currently not aware of any issues with this update.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

We strongly recommend that you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before installing the latest Rollup. SSUs improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the Rollup and applying Microsoft security fixes. If you use Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB5039342) will be offered to you automatically. To get the standalone package for the latest SSU, search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.
