The Microsoft Exchange Diagnostic Service (EDS) generates errors during every service startup and initialization as the service tries to create jobs. All active monitoring and background tasks across Microsoft Exchange Server 2019-based servers are affected by this error.

The EDS Job Manager doesn’t start the following jobs:

  • PFAssistantLog

  • OwaClientLog

  • OwaClientLocation

  • OAuthCafeLog

  • OABDownloadLog

  • MRSAvailabilityLog


To fix this issue, install the following updates, as appropriate:

Cumulative Update 12 for Exchange Server 2019 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2019

Cumulative Update 23 for Exchange Server 2016 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2016
