Note: In response to applicable laws in California and other U.S. states, Microsoft will provide customers with a new setting that will allow them to choose whether they want to share their personal data to show them personalized ads on third-party sites. Microsoft will release the new setting in a phased nationwide roll-out in 2023. This setting will allow customers to see personalized content and ads that interest them without sharing their data. Check the Personalized ad settings page for future updates and to choose whether you want to share your data to see personalized ads.
Here are some details about what happens if you choose not to share your personal data to see personalized ads:
-
If you are not signed in with a Microsoft account and you choose not to share your data for ad personalization, a cookie will be stored on your device to indicate your preference to opt out of sharing. This cookie persists for six months from the date of each opt-out or until you clear cookies from your browser, whichever is sooner.
