Public Preview - Release notes for Hotpatch in Azure Automanage for Windows Server
Azure Automanage for Windows Server with Hotpatch Release notes overview
Azure Automanage for Windows Server with Hotpatch is a capability that enables customers to apply security updates without restarting* devices. This will keep virtual machines up-to-date and secure, with higher availability and a reduced number of patch Tuesday restarts. Customers will be able to manage updates using the Azure portal or Azure Command Line Interface, with enhanced patch orchestration using Azure Update Management. Some of the benefits include:
-
Higher availability and fewer restarts.
-
Faster deployment of updates because the packages are smaller, install faster, and have easier patch orchestration using Azure Update Management.
-
Better protection because the hotpatch update packages are scoped to Windows security updates that install faster without restarting.
*Our schedule, at present, allows for 4 restarts per year. This is subject to change under special circumstances. For more details, see Hotpatch for new virtual machines (Preview) . See the calendar below for the latest information about cumulative security update months versus hotpatch months.
