Skype Meetings App slow startup in Skype for Business Server 2019 or Skype for Business Server 2015

Symptoms

China based customers using Microsoft Skype for Business Server 2019 or Skype for Business Server 2015 that have enabled Skype Meetings App to replace Skype for Business Web App may experience poor performance while loading Skype Meetings App and connected within China mainland.

Cause

This issue occurs because the default Skype Meetings App URI is not cached in Office 365 operated by 21Vianet.

Resolution

To fix this issue:

• For Skype for Business 2015, use Skype for Business Web Apps and ensure Set-CsWebServiceConfiguration -MeetingUxUseCdn $False

• For Skype for Business 2019, install the May 2021 Security Update (SU) or higher, then open the Skype for Business Server PowerShell and execute the following cmdlets:

  1. Set-CsWebServiceConfiguration -Identity global -JoinLauncherCdnConfigUri "https://res-1.cdn.partner.outlook.cn/assets/sfb/joinux/prod/config.json"

  2. Set-CsWebServiceConfiguration -Identity global -LWACdnConfigUri "https://res-1.cdn.partner.outlook.cn/assets/sfb/sma/prod/config.js"

  3. Set-CsWebServiceConfiguration -MeetingUxUseCdn $True
