Introduction

This article lists the new enhancements and bug fixes that come with System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2022 UR3 release. This article also provides the installation instructions for this update.

There are two updates available for Virtual Machine Manager - one for the Virtual Machine Manager server and one for the Administrator Console. 

New Features and Improvements

  • Support for Windows Server 2025 Guest OS

  • Support for Linux Guest OSes - Ubuntu Linux 24.04, RHEL 9, Debian 12, Rocky Linux 8 and 9

  • Availability sets listed in alphabetical order

  • Secure-by-default HTTPS-based addition of new storage providers

Issues that are fixed

  • Default block allocation on LUN created by SMI-S in SCVMM is not 64k and is defaulting to NTFS sizing

  • Converting VMware VM with more than 1 NIC to Hyper-V generates error: Slots are not available on the network adapters bus for the addition of new devices

  • Migrating from VMware to Hyper-V causes VMM Agent on the Target to Crash

  • VLAN settings are not applied during V2V conversion

  • VMM Connector with SCOM creates incorrect objects for VMM DB and its database engine in the SCOM database

  • SCVMM rating calculation consider memory of stopped VMs if the status of VM is unsupported cluster configuration

  • The Extensions tab in Create Logical Switch wizard incorrectly shows only HCI

  • Unable to enable Logical switch extension Microsoft NDIS Capture

  • VM admin User role does not have permission to perform action which are permitted at host group level

  • Console crash when opening host properties

  • Random Argument Exception during Full Host Refresh

  • VMM Agent crash due to divide by zero when converting VMware VM from ESXi host to Hyper-V host

  • SCVMM does not account for the VM's "CPULimitFunctionality" setting, when generating the script to update its properties from the console

How to obtain Update Rollup 3 for System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2022

Update packages for Virtual Machine Manager are available from Microsoft Update or by manual download.

Microsoft Update

To obtain and install an update package from Microsoft Update, follow these steps on a computer that has a Virtual Machine Manager component installed:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In the Control Panel, double-click Windows Update.

  3. In the Windows Update window, click Check Online for updates from Microsoft Update.

  4. Click Important updates are available.

  5. Select the update rollup package and then click Ok.

  6. Click Install updates to install the update package

Installation instructions

To manually install the update packages, run the following command from an elevated command prompt:

msiexec.exe /update <packagename>

For example, to install the System Center 2022 UR3 package for Virtual Machine Manager Server (KB 5055459), run the following command:

msiexec.exe /update kb5055459_vmmserver_amd64.msp
