Note: Default education templates are included as a part of Teams for Education. Custom meeting templates and the ability to customize education templates are available as part of the preview release of Teams Premium, an add-on license that provides additional features to make Teams meetings more personalized, intelligent, and secure. To get access to Teams Premium, contact your IT admin.

When you want to organize a meeting for a specific scenario—like a science class, history class or an exam marking meeting—meeting templates let you automatically create the experience that’s right for you. With meeting templates, the meeting options will already be set, ensuring meetings adhere to your organization's best practices and policies.

The meeting templates available by default include webinar, class, and lecture. If your organization has Teams Premium subscriptions, an IT administrator can create new templates and control which templates are available to different groups of users.

Why are some meeting options locked?

If you see a lock symbol next to a meeting option, your IT admin has prevented that meeting option from being changed.

Why can’t I see some meeting options?

If you’re used to seeing certain meeting options and don’t see them when organizing your meeting, your IT admin has hidden the option.

What happened to my meeting options?

If you join a custom meeting and notice some meeting options have changed, your IT admin has updated the template between the time you scheduled the meeting and the time you joined it.

Why can't I see some meeting templates?

If you’re used to seeing certain meeting templates and don’t see them when organizing your meeting, your IT admin has not assigned you to the meeting template policy.
