Enable Japanese address predictions for Microsoft IME

Important

Rinna and Japanese Address suggestion service for Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) in Windows 10 ended on August 13, 2020. As of that date, Microsoft no longer provides suggestions by Rinna or through the Japanese Address suggestion service. However, Japanese address predictions from the system dictionary without the Japanese Address suggestion service can instead be enabled using the instructions in this article.

To enable Japanese address predictions from the system dictionary when using Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME), select one of the following methods:


Taskbar icon

  1. Right-click on the IME options Characters icon in the system tray area of the taskbar and then select Settings Settings.

  2. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options > Microsoft IME window, select Characters General.

  3. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options > Microsoft IME > General window, under Predictive Input:

    • Make sure Use system dictionary is switched On.
    • Select the number of desired characters in the drop-down menu.

Microsoft IME shortcut

  1. Use the following Microsoft IME shortcut to directly open the Japanese IME settings in the Settings app:

  2. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options > Microsoft IME window, select Characters General.

  3. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options > Microsoft IME > General window, under Predictive Input:

    • Make sure Use system dictionary is switched On.
    • Select the number of desired characters in the drop-down menu.

  1. Select Start WindowsLogo and then select Settings Settings > Time & language TimeLocale > Language & region TimeLanguage .

    Select the following Time & language > Language & region shortcut:

  2. In the Time & language > Language & region window, under the Language section, select the ellipses More next to the desired language and then select More Language options.

  3. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options window, under the Keyboards section, select the ellipses More next to Microsoft IME and then select More Keyboard options.

  4. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options > Microsoft IME window, select Characters General.

  5. In the Time & language > Language & region > Options > Microsoft IME > General window, under Predictive Input:

    • Make sure Use system dictionary is switched On.
    • Select the number of desired characters in the drop-down menu.
