After setting the device to shut down upon closing the lid in Power Options, then subsequently closing the lid, the device's keyboards (whether self-contained, attached via USB, or on-screen virtual keyboard) may stop responding on the following startup.


Hard-reset the device. For most devices, this involves holding down the power button until the device turns off, then releasing, waiting a few moments, and restarting the device as normal.
