Switch to a Microsoft account

Here’s how to switch the account that appears on the sign in screen for Windows from a local account to a Microsoft account:

1. Click here, or select the Start button, Settings > Accounts > Your info.
2. Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
3. If necessary, enter your password, and then select Next.
4. Restart your device. The next time you sign in, the account you switched to will be shown.
