Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1) contains the complete set of updates that Microsoft has issued since the June 2008 RTM release of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. The service pack also includes some enhancements and new features that improve the product’s functionality and user experience. These enhancements include Electronic Signature, Right-to-Left Date Support, and support for the Windows Essential Business Server 2008 add-in. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 is also a prerequisite for the installation and support of Lean Manufacturing and of the Environmental Sustainability Dashboard.

Note Most fixes in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 are specific to individual modules or workflows. Therefore, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 does not require a full reevaluation cycle of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 at sites in which the RTM version of the product is already under evaluation. Only incremental testing in the relevant areas may be required.

Other key highlights in this service pack release include the following:

• Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 includes improvements to support future GLS releases and targeted releases, such as the Environmental Sustainability module that requires an Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 environment for installation.

• Starting with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 provides support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

• The Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 installer updates both the SYS layer and the GLS layer of the product. For example, if you already have the GLS-TR layer installed on your system, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 updates this layer during the installation process.
