Symptoms
Assume that you create a derived column in a SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) package, and you add a valid derived column expression. In this situation, you may receive validation errors.
Note You may also experience this issue after you migrate an SSIS 2008 package to an SSIS 2012 package or later versions.
Resolution
The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative updates of SQL Server:
- Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2016 SP1
- Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2014 SP2
- Cumulative Update 8 for SQL Server 2014 SP1
- Cumulative Update 14 for SQL Server 2014
- Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
- Cumulative Update for 13 SQL Server 2012 SP2
Recommendation: Install the latest cumulative update for SQL Server
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
- Latest cumulative update for SQL Server 2014 (SP1/SP2)
- Latest cumulative update for SQL Server 2012 SP3
- Latest cumulative update for SQL Server 2012 SP2
